Charity
_______________________________________________________________

Charity is an important part of SWA.

With the income from our members’ fees, and through generous donations from Scandinavian and local companies, and private individuals, we have in 2010 been able to help six families. The families are recommended by social workers in cooperation with the volunteer organization
Breadline, a member of the National Council of Social Services. Based on their recommendations, we assist these families in various ways, such as with housing, rent, costs of public utilities, school fees and cash.

Through SWA's two scolarships, The Marit Thome Scholarship and the Scandinavian Women's Scholarship, we are able to support students through their education at the Republic Polytechnic.

Further, we give monthly donations to
The Tent, a shelter for young girls, who for various reasons have no support by their families.

The families we support are regularly visited by our charity workers and we always welcome new SWA members to join the charity committee. You can make a difference!
